Weinbrenner's brand history is as follows:

In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner and Joseph Peffer established a cobblery in Milwaukee, serving "Jobbing" trades.

By 1900, Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed.

In 1916, the company printed its first catalog and became the largest supplier of leather cutting machines in the U.S.

In 1917, they introduced the concept of "Job-fitted" footwear and became a major supplier of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.

In 1938, Weinbrenner took its first steps into safety footwear production.

1942 marked the company's 50th anniversary, during which they exclusively produced military footwear for the duration of World War II. These styles also gained popularity with civilians.

In 1943, the company workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, maintaining a positive relationship with management to this day.

In 1964, Weinbrenner introduced their best-selling boot, the Hike n' Camp, which became the Official Boy Scout Boot.

In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, producing high-tech occupational safety footwear.

In 1992, Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th anniversary with the theme "A Century of Lasting Quality."

In 2000, Weinbrenner became employee-owned through an ESOP.

In 2001, following the September 11 terror attacks, Weinbrenner donated durable work boots to Ground Zero.

In 2014, they introduced the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted lifestyle boots.

In 2017, Weinbrenner celebrated its 125th anniversary with a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving domestic facilities.

2022 marks Weinbrenner's 130th anniversary, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI, and the launch of their first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons.

In 2023, sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and introduces many new styles.
